Susmita Misra
Susmita grew up in Paradip, a port town along the East Coast of India. Being a “Customer and Shopper” Insights’ specialist, and a nomad in her own right, she has lived and worked across India. Her work has taken her from Mumbai to Kolkata to Chennai to Delhi, spanning a vast expanse of over 10,000 miles and exposing her to several diverse cuisines. This gave her the opportunity to sample authentic regional delicacies and inspired her to infuse some of this into her own style of cooking. An avid traveller, she has also developed a keen International palate and always manages to take time out for good food wherever she maybe; capturing these flavours in her little kitchen too.
Her culinary journey though, started rather disastrously with burnt eggs and instant noodle dinners (albeit dinners her husband stomached irrespective). However years of learning and experimenting have now led her to innovate. She comes from a family of great cooks and the foodie genes have seemed to persist through generations. This is what she credits her edge to, when it comes to flavour or taste. Susmita claims that her food is a product of her passion meeting perseverance and rigor. And manages to add at least one new recipe to her repertoire each week in spite of a hectic work schedule. She champions home cooked food and is constantly encouraging her younger friends to start cooking and enjoying meals at home. Wholesome, low oil, no fuss, one pot recipes are her all-time favourites.
She currently lives in Gurgaon (India) with her husband Sabyasachi and sons, Kanishka and Sankalp. Her family serve as her food critiques with every recipe having to pass their muster, as well as her cheer leaders celebrating every new successful recipe. Susmita is a yoga practioner, blogger, enjoys travelling and ticking places off her bucket list. Some day she hopes to start a home dining service and professionally take to cooking.
