Paranjoy Guha Thakurta

Paranjoy Guha Thakurta is a journalist and author with work experience spanning more than four decades, cutting across different media: print, radio, television and documentary cinema. He is a writer, speaker, anchor, interviewer, teacher and commentator in English, Bengali and Hindi. He served as editor of the Economic and Political Weekly between April 2016 and July 2017. He is currently a consultant with NewsClick. He is also an author or a co-author of books including Loose Pages: Court Cases that could have Shaken India – Recalling the Birla-Sahara Papers and Kalikho Pul’s Suicide Note, Gas Wars: Crony Capitalism and the Ambanis, Thin Dividing Line: India, Mauritius and Global Illicit Financial Flows, Sue The Messenger: How Legal Harassment by Corporates Shackles Reportage and Undermines Democracy in IndiaMedia Ethics: Truth, Fairness and Objectivity and Divided We Stand: India in a Time of Coalitions. He is a publisher of books and has produced and directed a number of documentary films. He teaches courses on the media at various educational institutions, including three Indian Institutes of Management. He is on the boards of several civil society organisations. He participates frequently in, and organizes, seminars and conferences. He is a regular contributor to publications and websites and frequently appears on the radio and television channels as an anchor as well as analyst.
