Minakshi Chaudhry
Minakshi Chaudhry, a prolific author and former journalist, lives in Himachal with her husband. She is a keen observer of cultures, lifestyles, is fond of trekking and travelling, an avid reader and dabbles in drumming, cooking as well as natural farming. She loves the enigmatic charm and unique flavour of the hills and feels that the Himalayas are full of stories waiting to be written. Ms Chaudhry responds to the ethereal whispers and narrates many spooky, strange, sensual and sensitive tales.
The authored over twenty-five books, including Ghost Stories of Shimla Hills; More Ghost Stories of Shimla Hills; Love Stories of Shimla Hills; A World Within, a remarkable story of coping with parent’s dementia; Sunshine, My Encounter with Cancer; Whispering Deodars; Writings from Shimla Hills; Destination Himachal; Guide to Trekking in Himachal and Exploring Pangi Himalaya: A World Beyond Civilization, she has made invaluable addition to the world of writing. Few of her coffee table books on Himachal are Spitian: People, Culture, Visa; Kullu - A Sacred Journey; From Nirmand to Rohtang; Compendium on Kullu Devtas; Solan: A Mosaic of Experiences.
Under S.H.I.M.L.A. Investigators, a twenty-one part series for young adults, she has authored three books: Murder on the Bicycle Trail (Book 1); Scandal on Scandal Point (Book 2) and A Treacherous Beauty Pageant (Book 3). As part of a unique initiative in collaboration with the Keekli Charitable Trust, Shimla, Minakshi has co-authored and mentored young authors to write mysteries along with her! These three books include Lost in the Apple Country (Book 4); The Fatal Arrival (Book 5) and The Deadly Kitty (Book 6).
She is also the founder President of Swarn Educational Welfare and Awareness (SEWA) Trust that runs the Khushi Day Care Centre for elderly women in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, and undertakes various public interest activities. She is passionate about writing and mentoring children in the art of creative writing. Minakshi is also a motivational speaker and has been a cancer survivor. She conducts special workshops for people of different age groups on life skills. She is engaged in producing chemical and pesticide free apples and various value-added products.
Her exuberant energy, zeal to live and charismatic and infectious smile definitely add to her warm persona.
