CanDid: Inspiring human stories of resilience, perseverance & focus from sciencepreneurs at Venture Center.
This book, the second in the CanDid series, narrates the story of another set of fifteen science-based entrepreneurs, capturing their journey from the idea germination stage to how they went about starting a venture to bringing their idea to fruition, and the trials and tribulations they faced as they went about executing their plans and the people who helped them do it. The title of the book is derived from the ‘Can Do, Did It’ attitude of entrepreneurs.
CanDid is meant to inspire more scientists and researchers to commercialise the technologies they have developed or the research they are conducting in their laboratories. The start-ups are from a variety of sectors – drug discovery, medical devices and diagnostics, green energy, crop waste recycling, sportswear, digital transformation, underwater robots and circular economy. The binding factor among all these fifteen ventures is that each one of them was associated or continue to be associated with Venture Center in some way or the other.
Venture Center has built a network of founders that helps them discuss common issues and topics of interest, as each one of them forges ahead to build their deep-tech venture, the ecosystem for which is still in its nascent stage in the country.
